Dear Parishoners, Community Members and Friends,

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Charles "Chuck" Kurkjian on January 15, 2023.

 

Charles “Chuck“ Kurkjian, a devoted husband, brother, uncle and great uncle aged 93, passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2023 peacefully at Lankenau hospital.  He was born in Philadelphia to Souren Kurkjian and Rose Kurkjian (née Keleshian).

Chuck married the love of his life, Bernice Sara Paroonagian in 1954 and they lived in Drexel Hill their entire 68 married years.

As a young man, Chuck was in the army serving from 1951 to 1953. Prior to his retirement Chuck worked for the Reading Railroad, The US Postal Service and United Parcel Service.

Chuck enjoyed time with his devoted wife, Philadelphia sports teams, horse racing, attending his nephews and nieces games, and keeping up with current events. He read the paper cover to cover daily.

He is survived by his wife Sara, his brother Daniel Takoushian (Norma), nephews and nieces Lydia Arakelian (Niki), Dan Takoushian (Kathy), Loretta  Teri (Russell) and Steve Takoushian (Jamie) as well as great nephews and nieces Darren and family, Gregory and family, Niki, Danny, Lia, Tara, Madison, Alec, Eric, Alexis and Julia.  Charles is preceeded in death by his parents, brother, Manual Takoushian and sister-in-law, Bertha Takoushian.

 

Visitation and Funeral Services will be held at
St. Sahag & St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church
Friday, January 20, 2023
Visitation: 10:00; Funeral Service: 11:00 am
Internment at Arlington Cemetery

 

Memorial Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to: St. Sahag & St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church

 

The Parish Council extends their deepest sympathies to the Kurkjian, Takoushian, and extended families.
 

May the Lord number her soul in His eternal Kingdom,
and grant peace to the surviving members of her family.
