Dear Parishoners, Community Members and Friends,

It is with great sadness that we share the information regarding the passing of Asdghig Kazanjian, a beloved member of the Philadelphia Armenian Community. Please see the Obituary and Funeral Details below from Der Torkom Chorbajian and St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Apostolic Church.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Asdghig Kazanjian that happened on the morning of Friday, December 23, 2022.


Asdghig was the sole proprietor of the well-known and beloved ‘Armenian Delight’, a Middle Eastern gourmet food store and bakery located in Broomall, PA.
 
Asdghig was born on June 16, 1943, in Palestine. She was the daughter of Dirahayr Nishan and Diramayr Satenig DerKaloustians. Asdghig was preceded in death by her parents, her oldest sibling, Archpriest Father Moushegh DerKaloustian, her older sister, Isgoughi Bedrossian, her brother-in-law, Antranig Bedrossian, her older sister, Shake Nashalian, her son, Hratch Kazanjian, and her nephew, Vatche Bedrossian. Asdghig is survived by her two devoted sons, Ara and Vicken, her younger sister Marilouise (and Parsegh) Mahdasian (Wisconsin), her nieces/nephews, grand nieces/nephews, great-grand nieces/nephews, cousins as well as several godchildren both near and far.
 
Her funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022 in St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Apostolic Church, 8701 Ridge Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19128. 
 
Friends and family are welcome to attend her viewing from 9:30 am to 11am.
Her funeral service will start promptly at 11:00. 
Her internment will follow the funeral service at Arlington Cemetery (2900 State Road Drexel Hill, PA 19026).

 
The family requests memorial gifts be made to:

  • St. Gregory Illuminator Church. Please write in memo: “Asdghig Kazanjian memorial fund”

  • St. Gregory church will distribute the collected funds in equal amounts to: St. Gregory Church, the Eastern Prelacy Orphan’s Fund and the Armenian Sisters Academy in honor of Asdghig once a year from 2023 to 2025

 
Following interment a memorial luncheon will be lovingly given by the Church's Ladies Guild in Founders Hall of St. Gregory the Illuminator Church.
